The second and final weekend of “The Thanksgiving Play” begins tonight in the Freimann Studio Theatre at Harper Joy Theatre. The play is directed by guest artist Tracy Ward. Aiden Wolf ’25 is serving as assistant director.
“The Thanksgiving Play” is a satirical comedy written by Larissa Fasthorse (Sicangu Lakota Nation) and is currently one of the Top 10 Most-Produced Plays of the American theater scene. When “The Thanksgiving Play” opened at the Hayes Theatre in April of 2023, Fasthorse became the first Native American woman to have a play premiere on Broadway.
The play explores the absurdity of four well-intentioned teaching artists attempting to create a politically correct First Thanksgiving play for Native American Heritage Month.
