Global Politics of War Podcasts
|
Last semester, students enrolled in the Global Politics of War course (POL-314-A) created podcasts to examine how various theories of international relations can help us understand war and its aftermath. The course was taught by Shampa Biswas, the Judge & Mrs. Timothy A. Paul Chair of Political Science and Professor of Politics. Technical instruction was provided by the late Bryan Lubbers and Carlos Munoz, Instructional and Learning Technologists.

Jack Jackson Publishes Essay on U.S. Constitutional Politics
|
Associate Professor of Politics Jack Jackson published a peer-reviewed essay in a new anthology titled “Democracies in America: Keywords for the Nineteenth Century and Today” (Oxford University Press, 2023). Jackson’s chapter explores constitutional transformations around the meaning of sovereignty, citizenship, democracy and property within the “long nineteenth century” and brings that into conversation with today’s politics.

Basketball Tournament This Weekend
|
Whitman College will host the 2023 Northwest Conference Basketball Championship this weekend. Please note that ticket sales and policies are set by the Conference. Several different ticket packages are available for staff, faculty and community members to purchase, and Whitman students may also reserve free tickets in advance. To accommodate the tournament, Sherwood Athletic Center will be closed for all other activity on Friday and Saturday.

Baseball Series Games Postponed
|
The Northwest Conference baseball series between Whitman and Whitworth—previously scheduled for this weekend—is postponed due to weather. Rescheduled dates have not been announced.

Last Call for Ben Rabinowitz Award Nominations
|
Submissions for the $3,000 Ben Rabinowitz Award are due Monday, Feb. 27 at noon. The award helps students implement new projects or learning opportunities that promote compassion in medicine or politics and enrich the campus community.
