The Dialogue & Dignity Series continues next week with two co-presenters, David Myers and Hussein Ibish.
Myers is Distinguished Professor and holds the Sady and Ludwig Kahn Chair in Jewish History at UCLA. He also serves as Director of the Luskin Center for History and Policy and directs the UCLA Initiative to Study Hate.
Ibish is Senior Resident Scholar at the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington. He is the author of the book “What’s Wrong With the One-State Agenda? Why Ending the Occupation and Peace With Israel Is Still the Palestinian National Goal.”

Baseball Clubhouse Dedication Tomorrow
|
Join the Blues baseball team for a dedication, ribbon cutting and tours of the new clubhouse at Borleske Stadium on Saturday, April 6 at 10:30 a.m. The new facility, made possible by generous gifts from alumni and families, includes locker and training rooms, plus additional spaces for recruiting and multipurpose team meeting use. Following the dedication, the Blues will host a doubleheader at noon against the University of Puget Sound.

“Waste As Horizon” Talk on Monday

Sophia Stamatopoulou-Robbins, Associate Professor of Anthropology at Bard College, will deliver a talk titled “Waste As Horizon: Infrastructure and the Future of Palestine” on Monday, April 8 at 7 p.m. in Olin Auditorium. What can waste management in the absence of a state tell us about twenty-first century conditions of settler colonialism, and how can an investigation of infrastructure help us understand Gaza and Palestine in the present moment? Whitman Undergraduate Conference on Tuesday

The 26th annual Whitman Undergraduate Conference, a celebration of the scholarship, critical thinking, self-driven exploration and creativity of Whitman students, takes place on Tuesday, April 9. Visit the website for the full schedule of poster sessions, panel sessions and musical performances.

Salmon Film Festival Next Weekend
|
Whitman College will host a two-day Salmon Film Festival on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13. Highlights will include a traditional salmon bake on Ankeny Field, film screenings, panel discussions and a Native Showcase at a Whitman women’s lacrosse game. (Flyer attached.)

A solar eclipse will take place on Monday, April 8, from 10:35 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with maximum coverage at 11:31 a.m. For Walla Walla, we can expect about 28% of the sun’s disc to be covered. Weather permitting, the Astronomy Department will set up a sun-safe telescope (pictured: 2023 partial eclipse) on the Ankeny side of the science building. Remember: never look directly at the sun unless you are wearing eclipse glasses.
