Off-Campus Studies (OCS) recently held a Photo Fest competition where OCS interns and alums (Fall 2021 through Fall 2022) showcased their study abroad experiences through stories and pictures. OCS interns and DIS Copenhagen alums, Aidan Schutter ’23 and Nick Hager ’23 emceed the event. Prizes included Whitman Bookstore gift packages.

Off-Campus Studies Meetings Tomorrow
|
Students planning to study abroad fall semester must attend one of two meetings taking place at Noon and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 in Olin Hall Room 233. Off-Campus Studies Directors Susan Holme and Nadir Ovcina will discuss financial considerations and answer questions.

Guest lecturer Jennifer Ye Ji Cho will deliver a talk titled “Jazzin’ The Golden State: Sociopolitics of Jazz Academization in Early 20th-Century Los Angeles and Oakland” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 in Chism Recital Hall. Focusing on key individuals that navigate race, sociopolitics and institutional borders in academic spaces, she will discuss early jazz transmissions in two Great Migration hubs of California.

Inclusive Excellence Awards Nominations
|
Nominations are still open for the 2023 Inclusive Excellence Awards. The Division of Diversity and Inclusion is accepting nominations through Friday, March 31 for staff, faculty and students who have made significant contributions to the advancement of inclusive excellence at Whitman in the last year. The awards, which include a cash gift, recognize inclusive excellence in teaching, leadership and service. Nominate someone (including yourself) today!

Community Engagement Book Drive
|
Story Time and Friends Program are hosting a children’s book drive through April 8. All donated books will be distributed to local K–5 classrooms and daycare centers. New and gently used books in English or Spanish are greatly appreciated. Donation bins are located in Reid Campus Center, Penrose Library and the CCEC office.
