A Varied Life After Whitman
|
After just one visit to Walla Walla, Wendy Sanger McGuire '77 knew Whitman College was the right choice for her. Following her parents' advice that college was an opportunity to learn as much as she could about a range of ideas, she decided to major in a language (German) as the background for a broad liberal arts education. Each class McGuire took, fueled her curiosity to learn more.

“By my senior year, I would be running from class to class saying, ‘You will never believe what I just learned,’” McGuire says.
Following graduation, her life continued on a broad trajectory, including a career in the Army Reserve, where she was the first female honor graduate of the Officer Candidate School. She has also worked as a retail manager, a financial planner and registered investment advisor, a trust officer, a planned giving officer, a development officer, and an entrepreneur with a gourmet meal delivery service. Today, McGuire is the co-president of an outsourced accounting business based in Mumbai, India.
