Foreign-born Faculty & Staff Association Seeks Members

One of Whitman College’s first employee resource groups (ERG), the Foreign-born Faculty and Staff Association, recently held its inaugural meeting at College Cellars, the teaching winery at Walla Walla Community College. ERG members were treated to a tour of the grounds, followed by a tasting (for those interested).
The event provided an opportunity for foreign-born faculty and staff to meet outside of campus and interact in a relaxed social environment. Many of the attendees expressed relief and comfort in being surrounded by others who know of the complexities surrounding visa and immigration issues, not to mention adapting to living in a small town in Eastern Washington. At the meeting, members voted to elect Greg Lecki, Victoria Wolff ’12 and Nadir Ovcina ’17 to officer positions.
The Foreign-born Faculty and Staff Association would like to extend an invitation to all Whitman faculty and staff members who were born outside the United States to join. Another event is being planned for May.
