Alum Interviewed About New Bigfoot Book for Pre-Teens

Journalist Laura Krantz '00 was recently interviewed on NPR about her new children's book "The Search for Sasquatch." Inspired by her popular Wild Thing podcast, Krantz wrote the book to help young people think critically about mysteries in the world through the lens of science.

Kaufman-Osborn Publishes Two-part Essay
|
Baker Ferguson Professor of Politics and Leadership Emeritus Timothy Kaufman-Osborn has published a two-part essay titled "Neofascism, Florida Style" (part 1 / part 2) in the "Academe" blog of the American Association of University Professors. The essay opens with an analysis of Florida's so-called "Stop WOKE Act," which the AAUP has labeled an "educational gag order." Kaufman-Osborn then argues that this bill is but one element of a larger project designed to secure unilateral control over Florida's public education system, including its colleges and universities, in the service of a right-wing agenda.

Freedom Songs Artists Needed
|
The annual Freedom Songs concert will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10 in Harper Joy Theatre. Organizers are looking for groups and individuals with a desire to use artistic and musical expression to share a piece of their culture. The theme for this year's event is "Piece of Home." If you are interested in participating, please email Marina Balasanyan or Emmanuel Sakala and sign up for auditions.

If you have any symptoms that may be COVID-19 or know that you may have been exposed to coronavirus, please be tested. Additional masks and rapid test kits are available 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Welty Student Health Center.
