Campus Wellness Tips for the New Semester
|
Feature by: Laura Norris, Director of the Health Center
|
This week, we welcome our new students to campus and by next week we will be back up to our full campus population of students, faculty and staff.
As this is the season for cold and flu and COVID-19, please consider masking up for the first couple of weeks of the semester in order to suppress the spread of infection. In addition:
|
- Stay up to date on your vaccinations for COVID-19, influenza and RSV as appropriate for your situation.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick, and keep your distance from others if you are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick. If possible, stay home from work, school and errands.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, or use your elbow when coughing or sneezing.
- Clean your hands. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. This is a big source of contamination transfer.
- Practice other good health habits. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school, especially when someone is ill. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids and eat nutritious food.
|
As a reminder, symptomatic COVID-19 testing and masks are available at the Welty Student Health Center (open weekdays between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Here’s to a safe and healthy spring semester for everyone!
