Eunice Blavascunas Publishes About Forest Politics

Associate Professor of Anthropology and Environmental Studies Eunice Blavascunas recently published “The Wild Border of Politics: The Białowieża Forest and the Changing Ecologies of Protest” in the journal Ethnologia Polona. The article looks at how to respond to the protests of forests at the contested borderland between Poland and Belarus at a moment when protests are changing in form. Blavascunas examines the forest as a site of, participant in, and provoker of protest, asking how to elaborate modes of thought, collective action and social institutions through which more-than-human agents can be integrated into political communities, even as they exceed our understanding and remain a subject of difference.
