Provide Feedback on the Campus Sustainability Plan

Feature by: Sarah Williams, Sustainability Manager

An array of solar panels on a rooftop.

Previous sustainability efforts at Whitman have included installing solar panel arrays on several campus buildings, including on the Bratton Tennis Center in 2009 (pictured).

Whitman College is currently developing its first ever Campus Sustainability Plan, a follow up to the college’s 2016 Climate Action Plan. The process will help set goals and strategies in line with one of our strategic priorities: “Environmental Justice, Sustainability and Climate Action.”

Starting last semester, working groups on campus have been meeting with our collaborators from GreenerU and Cascadia Consulting. In an effort to make sure everyone on campus has the opportunity to provide input, we are offering several feedback options. (Flyer attached.)

If you haven’t already done so, please take a moment to respond to this public survey about the currently-proposed goals and strategies (responses are due by the end of day on Sunday, Feb. 18).

Next week, we will offer listening sessions for specific campus populations.

For All Students (in Reid Campus Center Café):

  • Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 6:30–7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 10:30–11:30 a.m.

For BIPOC Students (in Memorial Building, Room 331):

  • Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 5–6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 10:30–11:30 a.m.

For Staff and Faculty (in Maxey Auditorium):

  • Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 9–10 a.m. and noon–1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 9–10 a.m.
