Off-Campus Studies Photo Fest Exhibit in Stevens Gallery
|
Stevens Gallery in Reid Campus Center is currently displaying a showcase of the winners of the 2023–2024 Off-Campus Studies Photo Fest. Each year, students who either spent a semester abroad or had their summer months outside the United States are invited to submit photos in three categories.
The exhibit features large prints of the top three photos in each category as well as a slideshow of all of the submissions. Visitors are invited to vote for their favorite image, which will determine the winner of the People’s Choice award.
Off-Campus Studies will host an awards ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 6 p.m. in the Reid Campus Center Café to announce the winners. International appetizers will also be served.

Student Named NWC Swimmer of the Year
|
The Northwest All-Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimming Teams were recently announced and Shaye Agnew ’25 was named Women's Swimmer of the Year. Many swimmers on both teams received First Team and Second Team honors for finishing in the top sections of their respective races.

Whitman Basketball Dual Watch Party Tonight
|
This weekend, both the Whitman College men’s and women’s basketball teams will simultaneously compete in their respective Northwest Conference Tournaments. A watch party with two side-by-side screens will take place on Friday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Reid Campus Center Café. Whitman women will be playing in Salem, Oregon and Whitman men will be playing in Spokane, Washington. Both teams will face Pacific University.

Sounds of the People Concert Tonight
|
As Power & Privilege week draws to a close, don’t miss the concert by Sounds of the People on Friday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Reid Campus Center Young Ballroom. A Vendors Market will showcase local businesses and campus organizations from 5:30–6:30 p.m. in the same venue.

Learn About Culture of Respect on Monday
|
Whitman College was recently accepted into a two-year Culture of Respect program which will build our capacity to end sexual violence through ongoing and expansive organizational change. Director of Equity and Compliance and Title IX Coordinator Cassandre Beccai and Assistant Director of Community Health and Sexual Violence Prevention Specialist Kersten Bergstrom will host an information session on Monday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. in Olin Auditorium. The session will provide information about the Culture of Respect, specific goals of the program, ways you can get involved and more. (Flyer attached.)

Dialogue & Dignity Workshops on Nonviolent Communication Next Week
|
The Dialogue & Dignity Series continues with conversations on Nonviolent Communication next week. Two certified trainers from the Center for Nonviolent Communication, Roxy Manning and Aya Caspi, will deliver a presentation on Nonviolent Communication on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 4:30 p.m. in the Reid Campus Center Young Ballroom. This event is free and open to the public. In addition, Manning and Caspi will individually facilitate smaller sessions for the Whitman campus community on Thursday, Feb. 29. Sign up online.

Yesterday's Power and Privilege Symposium day included 10 presentations in four time blocks at multiple venues. Most presentations were livestreamed and those videos are now available to rewatch at your convenience.
