Whitman Tennis Teams Earn Conference Honors

The Northwest All-Conference Tennis Teams were announced on Tuesday with an impressive representation of Blues on the first and second teams.

Seven members of the Whitman women’s tennis team received postseason honors:

  • Angel Le ’23 was named Player of the Year (for her third time). 
  • Head Women’s Tennis Coach & Lecturer of Sport Studies John Hein was named Coach of the Year.
  • Camilla Tarpey-Schwed ’23, Arianna Castellanos ’25 and Jin Yu ’25 were named to the first All-Conference team.
  • Teleya Blunt ’26 and Ilina Jha ’25 were named to the second All-Conference team.

Three members of the Whitman men’s tennis team also received postseason honors:

  • Harshvardhan Chopra ’24 was named to the first All-Conference team.
  • Diego Guzman ’25 and Lucas Huang ’25 were named to the second  All-Conference team.

Whitman Lacrosse Team Earns Conference Honors

The Whitman women's lacrosse team had a healthy all-conference representation on Tuesday, with seven Blues landing spots on the Northwest All-Conference women's lacrosse team. Madeleine Sherry ’24, Gracie Maulik ’25 and Teagan Huff ’26 were named to the first team with Sherry named the Offensive Player of the Year. Eliza Daigle ’25, Erin Magnuson ’25 and Korin Wheaton ’24 were named to the second team and Taylor Hebert ’25 garnered honorable mention honors.

Harper Joy Theatre Season Announcement Today

The Theater and Dance Department will announce the 2023–2024 season at 4 p.m. today in the Nancy Simon Acting Classroom in Harper Joy Theatre. Learn more about next season’s shows, guest artists and student opportunities! (See attached flyer.)

 

Community Pride Picnic Tomorrow

LGBTQIA+ Student Services extends an invitation to a Community Pride Picnic on Saturday, May 6 from noon to 5 p.m. on the field behind Harper Joy Theatre. The event will include food (until it runs out), various lawn games, knockerball, snacks and more! (See attached flyer.) 

 

Adjusted Library Hours Next Week

Penrose Library will have extended hours around finals. Next week’s hours will be as follows:

  • Sunday, May 7 - 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
  • Monday, May 8–Thursday, May 11 - 7:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.
  • Friday, May 12 - 7:30 a.m. to Midnight
  • Saturday, May 13 - 10 a.m. to Midnight
 

Movement That Matters Summer Schedule

The spring Movement That Matters (MTM) schedule will conclude with today’s noontime session. An abbreviated summer MTM schedule will start on Monday, June 5 and end on Wednesday, August 16. The summer schedule will include Pilates, Light & Lively Cardio & Weights and Yoga on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Sign up today!
