Psychology Professor Awarded Research Grant
|
Assistant Professor of Psychology Nancy Day received a Natural Sciences Research Grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust to support her research on the neural and genetic mechanisms underlying vocal learning in zebra finch songbirds. Zebra finches are an effective animal model for examining the learning and production of vocalizations because they learn their song in a manner similar to how an infant learns speech. Over the course of three years, the grant will support six research students who will gain valuable experience in a variety of behavioral, neurophysiological and data analysis techniques.
