Film Inspired By Faculty Book

Professor of Politics Aaron Bobrow-Strain’s award-winning narrative non-fiction book, The Death and Life of Aida Hernandez, will become a feature film.

The book was originally published in 2019. It is a story of a young woman— whose life spans both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border—surviving her own attempted murder, family abuse, incarceration, deportation, separation from her son and the U.S. immigration system.

New York Times bestselling author Héctor Tobar will pen the screenplay adaptation for the film, to be titled Aida. MacArthur Genius Fellows and Sundance winners Cristina Ibarra and Alex Rivera will direct the film, which will be produced by Taylor and Marcela Davison Avilés of TomKat MeDiA.

Last Chance: Sign Up to Volunteer on Move-In Day

Students are returning to campus in just a few short weeks! As we prepare to welcome our first-year and transfer students, we still need volunteers to make them feel at home. Faculty, staff and returning students are invited to introduce these students to our community on Wednesday, August 24. If you are interested in volunteering for an hour or so, please sign up for a time slot.

Are Your Hours Changing?

Students will be returning to campus soon and we are planning to share academic department hours once they arrive. If a change from Summer hours to Regular hours will take effect, please let us know. Feel free to share how your office supports students and how students can contact you.
