Whitman Senior Helps Local Kids Reach New Heights
|
Last semester, senior sociology major Cassidy Washburn ’23 leveraged their position working as a student leader in the Career and Community Engagement Center (CCEC), along with a Whitman Internship Grant, to create Friends Rock, an after-school climbing program for local elementary school students.
The program started with a weekly climbing session for students from Edison Elementary school, and this semester a grant from the Washington Office of Superintendent for Public Instruction (OSPI) will allow the program to expand to twice a week and incorporate students from Pioneer Middle School.
Watch this video to hear more from Washburn about the origins of this exciting program!

Tuesday Tech Tip: Secure File Transfers
|
While email is a convenient form of communication, it is not necessarily secure—especially when exchanging sensitive information such as social security numbers, driver license numbers, passport numbers or financial information. If you need to exchange sensitive information with someone (even with your Whitman colleagues) avoid using email if possible.
Whitman College provides all college account holders with access to a secure transfer service. The shared files do not appear as direct email attachments so they cannot be forwarded to anyone else and are deleted from the server after a few days.
Login to Sharefile online at sharefile.whitman.edu using the SSO Login option. Additional information and instructions can be found in this Whitman knowledge base article.
