Apply to be an Undergraduate Conference Peer Coach
|
Applications are now open to be a peer coach for the 25th Annual Whitman Undergraduate Conference on Tuesday, April 11. The primary responsibility of a peer coach is to work one-on-one with other students and help them prepare for their conference presentations. Some peer coaches will also serve as moderators for one or more panel sessions during the conference.

New Finance Minor Approved
|
At last week's faculty meeting, the faculty voted to approve a new Finance Minor that will be available to students starting in the 2023-2024 academic year. Congratulations to the Economics Department! More information will be published online in the coming weeks.

Maxey Museum Exhibit Opens: Mapping India
|
A new exhibit opens today in Maxey Museum, "Mapping India: Colonialism, Nationalism, and the Partition of South Asia." The exhibit tells the story of imperialism in South Asia through historical maps and objects from the collection of Mark and Meredith Giordano, from European trade in the 17th and early 18th centuries, through the British acquisition of territory, to independence and partition. The exhibit runs through May 21 and is available for viewing from 12–5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 12–4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Wednesday Night Contra Dancing Starts Tomorrow
|
The Contra/Folk Dancing Club will hold its first event this semester from 7–9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1 in the Reid Campus Center Young Ballroom. Contra dance is a traditional form of line dancing with live music and a caller that directs each dance. This event is a collaboration with Walla Walla Friends of Acoustic Music. No experience necessary.

Whitman's Employee Assistance Program Canopy will present "Creating Strong and Healthy Relationships with Others and Yourself," from 11 a.m.–noon on Tuesday, Feb. 7. This webinar will discuss elements of building strong and healthy relationships with others, such as empathy, trust and constructive communication, as well as ways to connect with your authentic self to cultivate self-worth and confidence. Register in advance.

In accordance with Washington state Labor & Industries employer requirements, we are notifying the campus community that since yesterday, one person with Whitman access was confirmed positive for COVID-19.
Please continue to follow all our campus COVID-19 protocols to help prevent transmission. If you have any symptoms that may be COVID-19 or know that you may have been exposed to coronavirus, please be tested. Additional masks and rapid test kits are available in the front entryway at the Welty Student Health Center during normal operating hours.
