COVID-19 Boosters Authorized for All Adults

Image description: a person sits and holds a piece of paper with ''COVID19'' written on it in block letters. The person is wrapped in yellow caution tape printed with the word ''stop.''

On Friday, the FDA and CDC authorized the expansion of COVID-19 vaccine booster eligibility to all adults. Under the new guidelines, anyone 18 or older who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine can get a booster six months after their last dose. For those who got the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the wait is just two months from the initial shot. Additionally, people do not have to get a booster of the same vaccine they already received; they can mix-and-match boosters from any of the three manufacturers.

We strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster. Recent studies show that this additional vaccine dose provides an important increase in immunity, and we believe that it is an important tool in the ongoing effort to prevent illness and virus transmission and keep our students on campus and in the classroom.

For information on where to get a COVID-19 booster in Walla Walla, please visit the county Department of Community Health's COVID-19 information website.

Beware the Phishers!

Email scammers have been very active the past few weeks trying to trick people with fraudulent messages.

This screenshot is a recent example of a phisher trying to get a username and password. This fraudulent webpage mimicking the myWhitman login screen was linked in an email warning people that their account had been suspended.

Always pay attention to links in email messages, especially ones that imply a sense of urgency or ask you to “act now.”

The real website addresses that appear when you are asked for your myWhitman username and password are https://login.whitman.edu or https://cas.whitman.edu

You can report phishing messages like this to phishy@whitman.edu.

If you think you have entered your password into a fake website, you should change your password by logging into https://my.whitman.edu and clicking on the My Profile tab > Whitman Password.
