Sheehan Gallery Visiting Artist: Sheeba Maya

This week, Sheeba Maya, one of the featured artists in the current exhibition at Sheehan Gallery, will visit campus for a public artist talk on Friday, April 5 at 5:30 p.m. in Olin Auditorium. The talk will be followed by a Closing Celebration event at the Sheehan Gallery—the final opportunity to see “HYPERSPATIAL: Comics & Character in the Fourth Dimension.”

Maya is a New York-based artist and educator, best known for fantasy portrait work in the Neo-Afrofuturism movement. The artwork presented in this exhibition focuses on both real and invented portraits of black women.

An artistic portraiture of a mystical-looking figure, a dark-skinned woman with afro, horns and a gold halo.
