Students, there’s still time to apply for a Spring 2022 Whitman Internship Grant!

The Whitman Internship Grant (WIG) is a competitive grant program that provides funding to students who secure or build an unpaid internship opportunity at a nonprofit, some for-profits organizations or government/public offices. The spring grant cycle is for internships that will last from January to May 2022 and awards $940.

Any Whitman student who is eligible to work in the U.S. and is currently enrolled full time may apply. Before applying for a WIG the following need to be completed:

  • Download the WIG Application Packet and review all the information included.
  • Applicants must meet with a Career and Community Engagement Center (CCEC) career staff or a Student Career Advisor to review, edit and enhance their resume. Our career staff are available over winter break for resume review appointments, which you can schedule via Handshake.
  • Attend at least one WIG information session. The next and final workshop offered is “Breaking Down the Whitman Internship Grant” at 1 p.m. on Jan. 7. (Register here)
  • Secure a WIG eligible unpaid internship opportunity. The internship supervisor will need to sign documents for the application. You can browse WIG eligible internships in Handshake.

The final application deadline is 11:55 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 9. If you have any questions, email the CCEC office at ccec_info@whitman.edu or talk to them in Reid 219.

COVID-19 Case on Campus

Positive COVID-19 cases in our campus community are noted in Whitman Today in compliance with state regulations. We also update the data in our COVID-19 Dashboard every Monday.

In accordance with Washington state Labor & Industries employer requirements, we are notifying the campus community that in the past 24 business hours, four people with Whitman access were confirmed positive for COVID-19. These people are now in isolation for 10 days in accordance with our campus and CDC guidelines. Though the likelihood of transmission is low due to our campus COVID-19 protocols, it is possible that others may have been exposed to COVID-19. There is nothing you need to do at this time aside from following our campus COVID-19 protocols. Anyone identified through the contact tracing process as a close contact (within 6 ft. for at least 15 minutes over 24 hours) will be personally notified.
