Announcing the 25th Annual Undergraduate Conference
|
Let the countdown begin to the 25th annual Whitman Undergraduate Conference (WUC)! The WUC is a celebration of the research, scholarship and creativity of Whitman students from across all three academic divisions. It is a day when the entire campus gathers to build community and support student endeavors. On this day, the tables are turned: students become the teachers and the entire campus is their classroom. All students, faculty and staff are warmly invited to attend, learn and provide strong support to presenters on this noteworthy anniversary.
Save the date! The 2023 conference will be held on Tuesday, Apr. 11, and will be a full day, in-person-only event with presentations and musical performances taking place at venues across campus. Find more details at the WUC timeline webpage.
Students interested in presenting an oral or poster presentation (or one of each) should carefully review the instructions for presenters before composing their abstracts. Faculty sponsors must review and give final approval to all abstracts through the portal system by Friday, Feb. 17.
Send questions to Jess Hernandez, chair of the Undergraduate Conference planning committee and director for fellowships and grants.

Professor Emeritus Published in "The Pulse"
|
Baker Ferguson Professor of Politics and Leadership Emeritus Timothy Kaufman-Osborn published an open letter to Margaret Spellings and Tom Ross in the January 5 edition of "The Pulse," a nonpartisan blog about public policy issues in North Carolina. Although Kaufman-Osborn's letter is addressed to the co-chairs of the recently created Commission on the Governance of Public Universities in North Carolina, his argument invites us to rethink how colleges and universities, public as well as private, are governed throughout the United States. A follow-up interview conducted by North Carolina Policy Watch will be available shortly.
