Celebrating our 15th President

President Sarah Bolton in blue, black and yellow formal regalia, at a podium.

On Friday, April 28, 2023, a beautiful spring day in Walla Walla, Sarah Bolton’s Presidential Installation was held in Cordiner Hall on the Whitman College campus. Bolton was welcomed by representatives of the Whitman alumni, faculty, staff, students and the Walla Walla community. In attendance, along with higher education dignitaries and guests of the President, were three former Whitman College presidents, Kathleen Murray (14th, 2015–2022), George Bridges, (13th, 2005–2015) and Robert Skotheim (10th, 1975–1988).

We invite you to enjoy a three-minute video recapping this momentous occasion. Livestream videos of the Installation Ceremony and a Panel Discussion are also available to watch at your convenience.

Post Office Announcement for Students

Attention Whitman Students! It’s important to keep your Reid Campus Center Post Office mailbox organized and up to date. Don’t risk losing any important mail by letting it pile up. Any unclaimed mail will either be returned to the sender or disposed of. If you’re a graduating senior, make sure to sign up for USPS mail forwarding to ensure your mail follows you to your next destination. For those students not graduating, summer break is the perfect opportunity to temporarily forward your mail while away from campus.

Last Call: Student Engagement Survey

First-year students and seniors, if you haven’t already completed the National Survey of Student Engagement, please search your emails for an invitation from "NSSE" (nsse@nssesurvey.org) and complete it before leaving campus. Whitman participates in this nationwide survey of college students every three years and the results are an important way the college assesses the student experience. Thank you!

In Case You Missed It

Photo (River Woodruff ’25): Two weeks ago today, members of the Whitman community gathered at PE-WA-OO-YIT “Treaty Rock” for a Ground Blessing ceremony led by two members of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation General Council. The event coincided with student-led efforts to replace some of the vegetation in this area of campus with native plants.
