The latest issue of the Whitman Magazine is out! In this edition, we learn about Whitties exploring places as nearby as Cleveland Commons and as far away as outer space and building relationships that transcend generational and cultural differences. A few of the not-to-miss articles are:

  • “A Grand Finale” detailing the senior thesis process, including a special diary feature from Emily Solomon ’21
  • “Three Point Play” on alum Makana Stone's professional basketball career
  • “This Experience is for You” covering junior Wako Soma’s efforts to improve inclusivity in the Outdoor Program

Participants in Whitman’s TIAA retirement fund program have access to a variety of helpful and information webinars to help them keep their financial goals on track. There are a number of webinars coming up this month:

  • Money at Work 1: Foundations of Investing — Discover how you can manage risk versus reward as well as understand the role of investing and managing risks, ways to help accelerate savings and tools that can help sustain a portfolio. March 17 at 1 p.m. 
  • Help Protect You, Your Family and Your Money — Are you concerned about identity theft and your family’s security online? TIAA’s Information Security team will discuss how you can protect yourself and your family from cybercriminal social engineering. March 22 at 10 a.m. 
  • Tax Planning Considerations — “How does this impact me?” is the question we hear the most when it comes to headline-grabbing changes to the tax laws. This seminar will cover an overview of tax law changes and income tax planning considerations. March 24 at 9 a.m.
  • Charting Your Course: A Financial Guide for Women —Women can face unique financial challenges. You can discover tailored approaches to saving for retirement and tips to make your money work hard. March 24 at 12 p.m.
  • Financial Housekeeping for Now and Later — Get insights into your current financial situation and learn some practical steps you can take to help position yourself for future success. March 29 at 12 p.m.

8 a.m. Performance Management Training for Staff
This training will help staff navigate the new performance management process.
8:30–10 a.m. Weekly Required COVID-19 Testing for People with Vaccine/Booster Exemptions
Any employee or student with an approved vaccine or booster exemption must test weekly at Cordiner Hall.
11 a.m. Whitman College Men’s Tennis at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges
1 p.m. Performance Management Training for Supervisors
This training will help supervisors navigate the new performance management process.

Submissions should be 125 words or less. The deadline for submissions is noon for the following day's newsletter, though submissions may be held for a later date according to space and editorial needs. By submitting to Whitman Today you also authorize use on Whitman's social media unless otherwise specified.
