Leise Published in Oxford Bibliographies in American Literature

Christopher Leise, associate professor of English, published his peer-reviewed reference entry "New England 'Pilgrim' and 'Puritan' Cultures" in the "Oxford Bibliographies in American Literature." Combining the best aspects of a scholarly encyclopedia and an annotated bibliography, "Oxford Bibliographies" serves as a resource for advanced students and professional scholars alike, providing updated and authoritative guidance to a broad range of subjects from acknowledged experts.

Student Radio Station Accepting Applications

Whitman College's free-form student-run radio station, KWCW 90.5 FM (K-Dub), is accepting applications for DJ and Policy Council through tomorrow.

Baker Ferguson Fitness Center

  • Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday-Sunday: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., 5-8 p.m.

Bratton Tennis Center

Access for Whitman students, faculty and staff:

  • Monday-Friday: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday-Sunday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Access for alumni and community:

  • Daily: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sherwood Athletic Center (starting Tuesday, August 30):

Sherwood Upper Doors:

  • Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sherwood Lower Level Ramp Door:

  • Monday-Thursday: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 4-8 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 6-10 p.m.

COVID-19 Updates

In accordance with Washington state Labor & Industries employer requirements, we are notifying the campus community that over the weekend, nine people with Whitman access were confirmed positive for COVID-19.

 

Please continue to follow all our campus COVID-19 protocols to help prevent transmission. Masks are required during the first couple weeks of classes. 

 

If you have any symptoms that may be COVID-19 or know that you may have been exposed to coronavirus, please be tested. Rapid test kits are available 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m., at the Welty Student Health Center.

If you have a professional or personal accomplishment to celebrate, an event to publicize or other content to share with the Whitman community, email whitmantoday@whitman.edu. Submissions should be 125 words or less. The deadline for submissions is noon for the following day's newsletter, though submissions may be held for a later date according to space and editorial needs. By submitting to Whitman Today you also authorize use on Whitman's social media unless otherwise specified.
