Daniel Schultz Publishes Peer-Reviewed Book Chapter

Assistant Professor of Religion and Anthropology Daniel Schultz published a peer-reviewed book chapter, “Sacri Monti, Style, and the Politics of Franciscan Realism,” in the 2024 volume “Dante, Eschatology, and the Christian Tradition.” Schultz’s essay, a version of which he presented at Faculty Forum last January, explores the theological and political meanings of New Jerusalem pilgrimage sites in the Italian Alps, and shows how their excessive realism challenges histories of artistic style. The Sacri Monti of Northern Italy were also a topic of a recent New York Times travel section article should you be looking for things to do in Lombardy and Piedmont this summer.
