Land, Water, Justice is a three-week field course, made possible during the past two years through funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The course was designed by Associate Professor of Anthropology and Environmental Studies Eunice Blavascunas and taught in 2022 and 2023 by Blavascunas and Senior Lecturer of Environmental Studies Stan Thayne.

Last week, Madeleine Sherry ’24 set a new single-game program record with 10 goals, leading the Whitman College women’s lacrosse team to an 18–17 overtime victory in the opening game of the Northwest Conference season.

Timothy Kaufman-Osborn Publishes Essay in Encyclopedia of Critical Political Science
|
Baker Ferguson Professor of Politics and Leadership Emeritus Timothy Kaufman-Osborn recently published an essay titled “Critical University Studies” in the Encyclopedia of Critical Political Science. The Encyclopedia, writes its publisher, “adeptly navigates the multidisciplinary field of critical political science, providing a comprehensive overview of the methods, approaches, concepts, scholars and journals that have come to influence the discipline’s development over the last six decades.”

Over the next several months, Whitman College Technology Services (WCTS) will launch SentinelOne on campus, a new Endpoint Detection and Response cybersecurity solution for Whitman-managed devices. NW5C Book Read & Discussion

This semester, 41 faculty and staff from the Northwest 5 Consortium (NW5C), including six from Whitman College, are reading “The Activist Academic” in a common read experience. A final in-person gathering on Wednesday, May 15 from 12:30–2:30 p.m. will be open to all Whitman faculty and staff. The event will include a virtual discussion with the authors of the book, lunch and a discussion of community engaged scholarship. Please RSVP in advance.
